Conquering Cancer in Every Color!

Veteran KENS 5 TV news anchor, Marvin Hurst took to the stage as keynote speaker at this year’s awe inspiring ThriveWell Cancer Foundation Annual Luncheon. Back in person after a two-year hiatus, except for online, almost 600 attendees listened to Marvin’s stunning journey of hope in conquering throat cancer, not once, but twice.

Chaired by Susan and Dr. Lon Smith, Medical Oncologist, President, and CEO, START Center for Cancer Care, the theme “Conquering Cancer in Every Color” is symbolic of the fight against all types of cancer. Chaplin Jonathan Runnels provided a beautiful invocation and invited everyone to eat a delicious meal courtesy of the RK Group followed by Dr. Barry Soloman, father of ThriveWell Cancer Foundation Cofounder Dr. Amy Lang, who provided an update on her own battle with cancer. The Jenni P. Band was a big hit and belted out some awesome music.

“We were excited to be back together at this year’s event, celebrating with our ThriveWell family. ThriveWell is committed to giving patients whatever support they need in helping them conquer cancer. The luncheon is our biggest fundraiser of the year and the monies raised will go right back to the patients who need our assistance.”
