Behind every donation is a life touched. At ThriveWell Cancer Foundation in San Antonio, Texas, patient assistance goes far beyond financial support. It is transportation to radiation, chemotherapy and all the other appointments that come along with a diagnosis. It is lodging during lengthy treatment. It is access to exercise classes, nutrition education, and wellness programs that restore hope, strength, and dignity during the hardest chapters of a cancer journey.
So far this year, your support helped provide:
- Over 20,000 rides to treatment
- More than 5,300 nights of safe lodging
- $650,000 in financial assistance helping pay for patients’ care
- 2,500 exercise, nutrition and wellness classes through the Diva and Dude Program
These numbers represent more than services. They represent people who were able to keep going because someone cared.
Why Your donation Matters
When a patient is too weak to drive or does not have transportation, treatment may be missed. When insurance only covers part of the cost, lodging becomes a barrier. When a doctor says “you need movement and healthy food,” but the patient cannot afford either, hope can begin to fade. That is where ThriveWell steps in and that is where your support makes the difference.
Patient Testimonial – Where do I begin? My world turned upside down when I received the diagnosis of stage III colon cancer. I am a single mom, teacher and caring for my mother who is in poor health. To say I was blindsided, is an understatement. I handled my chemo treatment pretty well, but the radiation really took a toll on me. Every day, I had to get to my appointments, and I was exhausted. I told my doctor’s office that I didn’t have anyone else to drive me, and the nurse told me about ThriveWell. I was approved immediately to receive rides, and it was such a blessing. ThriveWell provided 25 rides – five weeks of treatments, every day. I’m not sure what I would have done without the service. I’m in remission now and going to my follow up appointments. It’s been quite a journey but I’m still fighting and THRIVING! Thank you to everyone who supports ThriveWell. A grateful survivor – Jennifer G.
