Steve Hays, ThriveWell Cancer Foundation Board Member, is a proud San Antonian — born and raised in this great city. He graduated from TMI in 1982 and received his college degree from St. Mary’s University. After completing college, Steve established his Farmers Insurance office in Alamo Heights and has been helping people with their insurance needs for over 20 years. Steve and his wife Randall have three awesome kids and enjoy their furry kiddos too.
Steve has been a part of the ThriveWell family since the very beginning. Devastated at losing his sister, Karen Franklin at the young age of 47, Steve’s family and friends decided that her death would stand as a commitment to help others faced with this disease. They established the Karen Franklin Gastric Cancer Memorial Fund to fund cancer research so that other families might be spared the tragedy of losing a loved one to cancer.
The proceeds from their annual golf tournament were donated to ThriveWell — more than $400,000 over the 8 years the tournament was held — and that funding helped stabilize ThriveWell Cancer Foundation and laid the foundation for what the organization has grown into today.
Steve continues to serve as an active member on ThriveWell’s Board of Directors, and Karen’s life and legacy continues to touch countless lives in San Antonio through his work with the organization.
