As we observe Sarcoma Awareness Month, we want to spotlight Carmen Hawkins, a 57-year-old ThriveWell Diva bravely facing Leiomyosarcoma (LMS), a rare cancer. We’re highlighting Carmen for her incredible strength and are grateful for her willingness to share her journey.
Carmen received the Leiomyosarcoma diagnosis on February 24, 2025, and has since completed five rounds of chemotherapy.
Despite the immense challenges, her spirit remains remarkably strong. As she eloquently puts it, “I’ve had successes, and I’ve had setbacks, but God has continued to go before me on this journey.”
Carmen’s story powerfully underscores the critical importance of awareness, especially for conditions as rare and aggressive as LMS. She candidly admits that despite her usual positive outlook, she was beginning to feel disheartened until she discovered ThriveWell’s Diva Program. The program offers vital exercise, nutrition, and artful healing initiatives for cancer patients and survivors. Created to boost cancer prevention and survivorship rates, the Diva Program emphasizes the positive aspects of life, equipping participants with tools for a renewed journey filled with hope, while celebrating present moments and milestones together. Carmen has already attended several classes and connected with others who can relate to her experience. We are all cheering you on, Carmen!
