On Saturday, October 24, 2026, more than 100 cyclists, friends, and families gathered in San Antonio as part of breast cancer awareness month for the third annual Pedaling in Pink Social Ride. The event brings the community together each year to raise vital funds for ThriveWell Cancer Foundation, which supports local cancer patients and their families.
Pink From the Parking Lot On
By the time the first wheels rolled out, the parking lot looked like a sea of pink. Riders arrived in pink jerseys, pink temporary tattoos, pink bandanas, pink socks, and helmets decked out in ribbons. Some had tied pink streamers to their handlebars. Every outfit was a small way of saying, “I’m showing up for this,” and the whole group carried that spirit down the road.
A Morning at Breakaway Brewing Company
Riders gathered at Breakaway Brewing Company on East Grayson Street for check-in and packet pick-up beginning at 7:00 a.m. Riders received a swag bag with an event T-shirt, a cooling towel, and other goodies. Wheels went down at 8:30 a.m., and the group of riders set off together in a morning full of conversation, laughter, and team spirit.
Choose Your Adventure
Riders could pick the route that suited them. The scenic 10 mile social ride offered a relaxed pace for newcomers, families, and anyone who wanted to enjoy the company, while the 25-mile option challenged more experienced riders. Whichever route they chose, every rider helped make the day a success. Many riders stopped to hug, high-five, and share stories, and the moment reminded everyone why showing up matters.
Honoring Survivors
Cancer survivors rode for free, and they were honored for their strength and fortitude. Before the ride, organizers called survivors up to be recognized in a group. They were each given a pink flag and pink beads.
A Moving Patient Testimonial
A powerful moment came when a patient called Kim shared her story. In a few heartfelt minutes, she spoke about her journey and the support she had received. The crowd fell silent, then gave a long round of applause.
