Dr. Sreedhara Akkihebbalu is a trained physician in Family Medicine and Community Health. He has worked with Hospitals, Medical Colleges,Health Institutions and non-profit organizations. He trained in Yoga under H S Arun and Iyengar Yoga teacher and attended workshops under BKS Iyengar, Geetha and Prashant Iyengar. He is also trained in Yoga Therapy under SVYASA , a premier institution in Yoga Therapy. After moving to the US in 2006 Dr. Sreedhara Met with Emilie Rogers and founded San Antonio’s first Yoga Teacher Training School, Esther Vexler Yoga School,
Dr.Sreedhara Akkihebbalu started his dance career in 1985 while he was resident in Family Medicine. He is the first male dancer from the state of Karnataka to have achieved the distinction of a Top Grade Soloist – the highest rank for any performing artist by Prasar Bharati – Government of India. Dr. Sreedhara was much sought after artiste for solo performances and has performed in major dance festivals. In the three decades of his brilliant dance career Dr. Sreedhara has performed prodigiously and partnered some of the leading exponents of Bharatnatyam. Sreedhara has received many accolades and awards. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Junior and Senior Dance Fellowship, awarded by the Department of Culture .
